Presidential Visit Leads a Busy Civic Week in Lubbock |
Campaign events, downtown access changes and early voting deadlines for Lubbock residents |

A presidential visit, a second Senate campaign rally and the final days of early voting make this an unusually busy civic week in Lubbock.
The practical effects extend beyond the audiences attending the events: downtown routes and several city facilities are affected Tuesday, October 27.
President Donald Trump is scheduled to speak at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, 1501 Mac Davis Lane, during a campaign stop supporting Republican U.S. Senate nominee Ken Paxton.
The organizer’s current listing puts doors at 2:30 p.m.; residents should use that updated schedule rather than older announcements showing an earlier appearance.
Check the official registration page for admission arrangements, and allow extra time for security.
The City of Lubbock lists closures on Mac Davis Lane and Ninth Street between Avenues O and L, plus Avenue O beside the Civic Center.
Its designated public approach is from Eighth Street to the building’s west entrance.
The city notice also lists a 4 p.m. cutoff for pedestrian traffic and vehicle parking in the affected area, making advance route planning especially important.
Mahon Library, the Civic Center administrative offices and Silent Wings Museum are closed Tuesday, with normal hours expected Wednesday; other library branches retain regular hours.
Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico has a separate Tuesday rally at the Fiesta Center, 1902 East Fourth Street.
The venue has changed from the previously announced Texas Tech location; doors open at 6 p.m., with the program at 7 p.m.
The campaign’s event listing provides registration and current details.
A Friday, October 30 appearance by Governor Greg Abbott is also reported, but it requires a different level of certainty.
Lubbock Lights reports that an invitation lists 12:15 p.m. at The Funky Door Bistro & Wine Room, 6801 Milwaukee Avenue, for a get-out-the-vote gathering.
The outlet says Abbott’s campaign had not independently confirmed the appearance to it, and whether attendance is invitation-only remained unclear.
Confirm attendance arrangements before traveling; the reported invitation is not a guarantee of public access.
Early voting continues through Friday, October 30, before the November 3 general election.
Election Day polls are open 7 a.m.–7 p.m. Central; early-voting site hours should be checked separately with county elections officials.
These campaign gatherings are separate from voting locations and do not replace casting a ballot.
